Wedding day July 19 2012

We were up at the crack of dawn (0730 to be precise!).  The big day had finally arrived, after all the planning and excitement.  The car had been cleaned, inside and out and we were ready to hit the road up to Scotland.  We showered and spruced ourselves up and then headed up to Sue's, where Mam, Chris and Sue were ready and waiting in anticipation for the forthcoming nuptuals.  We piled all of the wedding goodies into the back of the car - together with lots of sweets in the front (butterscotch & fried eggs yummy!) and set off for Caerlaverock Castle, near Dumfries for David & LesleyAnn's wedding.  The journey was not bad at all.  The roads were quiet, and we got there in what seemed like no time at all.  We stoped off at a service area and had a quick coffee in Costa.  After that, we headed back to the car and that is when the fun began.  Sue didn't want to go into the toilets to put on her wedding outfit, so she and Mam decided to just get changed beside the car (mega funny watching them struggle into their sparkly wedding garb! and watching the passers by wondering what the hell are they doing!!!)
When everyone was ready and in the Wedding mood, we set off and got to the stunning venue about half an hour later.  When Ian first spotted the castle, we all gasped at how beautiful it was.  Caerlaverock castle was an old ruin, built in the 13th century, set in its own grounds and breathtakingly gorgeous.
We parked the car near to the Castle.  Our timing was great, as Deb, Col, David, Josh and Olivia were pulling up at the same time.  When they all got out of their car, we all gushed over how lovely everyone looked.  Deb, in her beautiful Blue dress and hat, Col & David and Josh in their smart Silver suits (Josh looked wonderful and not unlike little lord fauntelroy!), and the lovley Olivia in her beautiful girly wedding dress.  Mam and Sue looked elegant and classy as usual and Ian & Chris (and me of course!) were smart as carrots in our Sunday best suits.
David was more nervous than i have ever seen him.  He looked pale and was shakng like a leaf!  We took lots of pictures for posterity.  Josh and Olivia were smitten with the 2 horses nearby.  We headed into the castle and were again taken aback by the amazing and picturesque surroundings.
LesleyAnn's family and friends had gathered there too, and we stood around waiting for the arrival of the beautiful bride.  A few minutes later she made her entrance, arm in arm with her father. She looked stunning and not unlike a disney princess! They walked slowly to the front of the hall where a very nervous bridegroom was waiting, together with the priest who was to marry them.
The ceremony was lovely and very moving. All of the worries about what the weather would be like were put to rest, as the Blue skies shone through. Thoughts about David went through everyone's minds.  The fact that he was now a grown man, with his own gorgeous, little family, made us all well up and wipe away a few tears!  David's nerves shone through, when he fluffed his lines during the 'in sickness and in health' vows, but he managed to get through the rest of it sucessfully!  The priest had to be corrected, when he asked Lesley (rather than LesleyAnn) to take this man to be her husband.
After the ceremony, the happy couple signed the register and were officially announced as Mr & Mrs David Taylor. We all took tons of photos, making the most of the stunning scenery and the really well dressed audience!
Josh and Olivia gave LesleyAnn a lovely, lucky horse shoe and a chimney sweep (from my Mam), and they were both extremely well behaved and a credit to David.   Both the bride and the groom looked blissfully happy and after all of the planning and waiting, they were now announced officially as a lovely, married couple.  They were then given good wishes, blessings and congratulations from all of their loving family and friends.
After the proceedings, it was time to head back home to get ready for the night time party, at the Roker Hotel.  I messed up and tried to follow col in his landrover - but didn;t realise that they were heading into Dumfries to register the married couple!
This made the journey back seem a lot longer, but we all enjoyed the lovely Scottish scenery during the journey none the less.  We arrived back home for about 1530 and i dropped Sue & Chris off, then Mam.
We got ready for the night time do and ordered a taxi and picked Mam up on the way down to Roker.  Everyone had arrived and the happy couple were again being given Congratulations and presents by all of their friends and family.  The room was decked out in Silver and purple balloons and it was nice to see Jane & Claire there, with the kids (we had missed them at the ceremony).  The kids had a special sweet table and of course they ran about and had great fun around the dancefloor (Aaron was dripping in sweat!),  LesleyAnn had kept her wedding dress on and David still looked dapper in his wedding suit.  Sue had done us all proud by putting together a basket full of goodies, for the happy couple, which looked amazing.  David & LesleyAnn had their first dance to 'Video Games' by Lana Del Ray and David just say managed to maintain his credibility, as LesleyAnn lead the way!
All in all, this had been a terrific, unusual and great day for everyone involved.
